On track
I first got behind the wheel at Silverstone on my twelfth birthday in 1993, and spent rather more of it spinning and facing the wrong way than driving. Competition followed from 1994 — regional karting, then Formula Ford — before two years off to set up the businesses. I came back in 2002 in the Club100 championships, where I was sarcastically nicknamed “the legend”, and spent the next eighteen years trying to earn it. I retired at the start of 2020.
Plus the Challenge Cup in 1997 and outright victory at the Spa Francorchamps 10 Hour in 2005.
First time behind the wheel, on my twelfth birthday. Spent most of the session pointing in directions the circuit designer had not intended.
Numerous regional karting wins, including a championship and a cup in 1997, then the Formula Ford Goldline Bearings Supercup after graduating from the Jim Russell Racing School.

Returned to competition in the Club100 championships and started the long climb back up the order.
Three years of climbing the ladder paid off, with IMSD Racing dominating the season and taking victories across multiple classes.
1st Inters Endurance Championship 1st Clubman O Plate Championship 1st Spa Francorchamps 10 HourPromotion to the Clubman championship meant a bigger challenge, but I helped IMSD secure victory in Europe as well as a handful of UK podiums.
1st European Clubman Championship 3rd Clubman Endurance ChampionshipProgressed to the Premier series. Success was thin on the ground, though the solo outings went rather better.
5th BPKDC Winter Championship 5th Daytona 500Raced the whole season with broken ribs after my new team-mate t-boned me in pre-season testing. Still turned out for IMSD in a few one-offs, including second at the New Year Cup.
2nd Lightweight Sprint Championship 5th Le Mans 24 HourFormed my own team for the Premier Endurance series, finishing sixth in the championship and taking a first podium in the class. Plenty of success elsewhere as a driver for hire.
1st Open Endurance ChampionshipJoined Galliard for the premier endurance championship, scoring three podium finishes, and raced for their French counterparts in Europe.
5th Premier European ChampionshipDeclining results in the premier series, offset by a far better time in the sprints and the open series.
1st Open Endurance Championship 5th Lightweight Sprint ChampionshipDisappointing results in the sprints and premier endurance. Left Galliard at the end of the year and retired from sprint racing.
2nd Open Endurance ChampionshipJoining the newly formed Alliance Racing finally delivered success in the premier series, with the open championship still going well.
3rd Open Endurance Championship 4th Premier Endurance ChampionshipA disappointing campaign that yielded a single third place finish. At the end of the season I was dropped by the very team I helped create. Oh the shame!
Left Alliance to join Akita in the Clubman championship and won the title in style.
1st Clubman Endurance ChampionshipA move back up to the restructured Premier series fell short of expectations. A maiden premier win at the final round was not enough to stay. A one-off return to the 60 minute challenge was scuppered by reliability.
5th Premier Endurance Championship 5th Open Endurance ChampionshipAn up-and-down debut season with the new Maxx MPH outfit. No race wins, but four podiums and a respectable third in the championship.
3rd Premier Endurance ChampionshipMaxx MPH switched to the Quadrant championship. After a slow start, Dan Milner and I put together a strong second half of the season and a run of podiums.
3rd Class 1 Quadrant ChampionshipA last full campaign, back to racing solo in the SP60 championship.
5th SP60 ChampionshipCalled it a day at the start of the year, twenty-six years after the first race and twenty-seven after that first spin at Silverstone.

What originally started as a motorsport stats library, which was eventually pushed out by Wikipedia, it then became the home of witty blogs, sarcastic email exchanges, general stupid behaviour and time-wasting material. It has been going for over a decade, which says more about the state of the world than about me.
